Our annual Tailgate Straight event will be Saturday, November 15 as the HuskersTailgate Straight take on Wisconsin. The event is a safe and sober event for the public where we’ll watch the game on tv, play traditional tailgate games and enjoy all-you-care-to-eat chili!

Will you be one of our 10 chili-making teams? If so, sign up by emailing: [email protected].

RULES:

Each contestant team is responsible for preparing a large roaster full of chili for the competition.

Contestants should always wear gloves while serving. Please provide your own serving utensils.

All ingredients must be pre-cooked – chili is to be brought “ready-to-eat” an hour before kick off. Chili must be maintained at proper temperature for serving.

Contestants are encouraged to bring a bread accompaniment (such as cinnamon roles or corn bread) and toppings relating to their chili (i.e., crackers, cheese, onions, sour cream). You are also encouraged to decorate your table and provide signage to publicize your team.

Contestant teams should have at least two team members ready to serve. Feel free to work in shifts.

Each team is responsible for cleaning up their area after the judging is complete.

The winner will be determined by the team that collects the most cash/credit card donations at the event. You may also collect donations prior to the event.

All donations are to be collected by the beginning of halftime – the winner with the most money collected will be declared the winner by the beginning of the 3rd quarter.

The Bridge will provide: tables, tablecloths, water /coffee, bowls, napkins, silverware.

Two prizes!

Fundraising Champs and Best Tasting (chosen by celebrity judges!)

Since we are playing Wisconsin, incorporate cheese for a better chance to win!

Not much of a cook? You can help by providing a cash donation to underwrite the costs of the event. Or simply attend this sober tailgate event. Starts 1 hour before kickoff of the Husker vs. Wisconsin game. Stick around to watch the game on TV!
